Are you looking for an easy free crochet scrunchie pattern? Well look no further! At first I wasn’t to sure about the whole scrunchie fad that came about, especially the velvet ones. After some thought I jumped on the velvet scrunchie bandwagon and the rest is history! It is literally the only scrunchie I wear now and I may or may not have one in every color I make!
Now let’s talk about the actual scrunchie itself! I saw a lot of different ways and styles of making them start popping up but I didnt really like any 100%. So I thought let’s try this and whip up one on our own, well I wasn’t disappointed and it worked up super quick!
Materials
Hair tie (I got mine here)
Any yarn you’d like, I used bernat velvet yarn
5.0mm or H crochet hook
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Pattern
I like to put my hair tie over my hook first and then cast onto your hook
You will now be working around the hair tie, start with a slip stitch while holding the tail and working yarn ( I feel it gives it a little extra strength by doing this)
Do 30 half double crochets around the hair tie, when you get to the end slip stitch into the very first half double crochet you made
Chain 2, 2 double crochets into that same stitch, *3 double crochet into next stitch, 2 double crochet stitches into the next stitch* repeat until you have one stitch remaining and work 3 double crochets into the final stitch, slip stitch into ch 2 from beginning, fasten off and weave in ends
You now have your very own scrunchie!
